Brady 85354 7" Height, 10" Width, B-302 High Performance Polyester, White On Green Color First Aid Sign, Legend "Eye Wash Station"
Bel-Art Scienceware 248805003 eyewash station can be mounted on a wall near workplace hazards to provide immediate emergency flushing of chemicals or particles from the eye. It contains a 200mL bottle of phosphate buffer solution for neutralizing acids and alkalis, and a 500mL bottle of sterile physiological saline solution for flushing dirt and particles. The station completely encloses the bottles when the door is closed, reducing the risk of contamination from dirt and particles. The bottles have eyecups to help hold open the eyes during flushing. Since the bottles are squeezed to force the solution out, the person being treated can be vertical or horizontal. The solutions have a three-year shelf life from the date of manufacture and require no maintenance. The station measures 11 x 8-3/4 x 4-1/2 inches (H x W x D). (H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) This emergency eyewash station supplements primary eyewash stations that meet the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standard Z358.1-2009 for emergency eyewash and shower equipment.
Eyewash stations provide for emergency flushing of the eyes to remove chemicals or materials that can cause injury. They are placed near potential eye hazards in workplace environments for quick access, and can be either plumbed devices that draw tap water from a facility's plumbing or self-contained units with a supply of gravity-fed flushing solution that can be wall mounted or placed on mobile stands or carts for portability. Eyewash stations have a pair of nozzles that direct the flushing fluid upward at both eyes simultaneously, maintaining a constant flow rate and stream height. The flushing fluid used in portable stations is typically a preserved, physiological saline solution that must be periodically replaced. Eyewash stations are required by government agencies responsible for occupational safety, such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and are found in industrial facilities, construction sites, and hospitals, among others.
