Following up his previous Dutton recording devoted to the music of Havergal Brian, conductor Martyn Brabbins offers a second and remarkably varied program of Brian's music, in which Lorraine McAslan is the commanding soloist in the composer's Violin Concerto. The Royal Scottish National Orchestra powerfully articulates the eloquent Symphony No.13, and a revelatory recording of the English Suite No.4 displays Brian's most approachable style from the early 1920s. The program is completed by the scampering, tuneful overture The Tinker's Wedding.
