Digitally remastered collection of recordings from Kentucky Colonels members Roger Bush, Billy Ray Lathum and Clarence White made in the summer of 1964, during the KC's national tour that included their triumphant appearances at the Newport Folk Festival and fame Gerde's Folk City. These rehearsal recordings took place at the Chicago, IL home of Leon and Wilma Houston without KC member Roland White. The importance of these recordings is that Clarence steps forward to play lead guitar breaks on 12 of 16 songs to cover Roland's absence. The other four tracks feature double banjo playing of Billy Ray and Roger. It further illustrates Clarence's trailblazing role in establishing that lead guitar solos could now take their place in a bluegrass band setting.
