These delicious specialty cookies are made with barley flour, brewer's yeast, flax seed, whole grain rolled oats and calcium to help a nursing mom to increase breast milk production. Recipe Options Butter Add 1 cube (1/2 cup) very soft, but never melted butter, 1 large egg and cookie mix to mixer. Mix on slow speed for about 5 minutes or until soft dough forms. Dough will be dry and crumbly until thoroughly mixed. Coconut Oil Add ½ cup of coconut oil at room temperature. Put coconut oil in mixer on medium speed for 2 min. These cookies may be flatter than cookies made with softened butter. Shortening Add ½ cup shortening at room temperature. Put shortening in mixer on medium speed for 2 min. Add 1 tablespoon water, 1 large egg and pour mix into mixing bowl. Mix on slow speed for about 5 minutes or until soft dough forms. Dough will be dry and crumbly until thoroughly mixed. Oil Add 4 tablespoons vegetable oil or canola oil. Add 1 large egg, 2 tablespoons of water and cookie mix to mixer. Mix on slow speed for about 5 minutes or until soft dough forms. Dough will be dry and crumbly until thoroughly mixed. These cookies may be flatter than cookies made with softened butter.
