Gear tooth cutter holder
- Similar to a fly cutter but holds ¼" cutting tool straight rather than angled down
- #1 Morse taper fits headstock spindle
- Drawbolt with washer included
- Grind included ¼" HSS cutting tool to gear tooth shape to cut one tooth at a time
The geartooth cutter holder is similar to a fly cutter, except the Â¼ lathe tool is held perpendicular to the cutter axis rather than angled downward. The HSS tool can be ground on a bench grinder to the shape of the desired gear tooth and tear teeth are then cut one at a time using this single-pointed tool. This is a less expensive alternative to using round involute gear cutters. Designed for use with Sherline headstock spindle.
