Among today's active Bluegrass musicians, none are better equipped to collaborate on a tribute to the International Bluegrass Music Association's Hall of Fame members than Joe Mullins and Junior Sisk. Raised in traditional Bluegrass music families, both artists have carved out significant careers of their own, leading to various industry awards and solid bookings on a nationwide basis (and overseas tours as well). On this 2013 recording they honor the musicians whom they learned from, the "First Generation" artists who laid the groundwork for today's vibrant Bluegrass scene. The International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame inducted its first members in 1991: fittingly the giants of the genre, Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt, and Earl Scruggs. Since that time, a total of 28 more musicians have had their names added to this most prestigious list and, amazingly, in this tribute album, Sisk & Mullins have been able to honor no less than 24 of the 28 in one way or another. Some were stars, some were extremely talented sidemen-all made great contributions to this music that is now in its 8th decade.
