While many believe that the May flower was the first flower to welcome spring to the pilgrims after a long winter, we think it was actually this delightful fairy! This woodland fairy wears a ring of may flower petals on her skirt. With her arm raised, she is beckoning spring into the garden at last! The worldwide recognized English novelist and also illustrator Cicely Mary Barker published a number of children's publications with regards to imagination along with world of flower fairies. Barker's initial book, introduced in 1923, was called, Flower Fairies of the Spring. The enchanting images included in her books were the creative idea for the hand-painted fairies.
