Taylor Adams just wants to get her feet under her again and move on with her life following a failed relationship. But when her feet put her on a mountain path on Palomar Mountain in Cleveland National Forest, an hour from her San Diego home, she finds her new path leading her directly into an out-of-control wildfire.
Tanner Davis isn't looking for a relationship. He's actually trying to avoid falling into any and he's been successful so far. Ever since his SEAL team suffered high casualties during an antiterrorist mission, they've been reclassified as a reservist team and Tanner with four of his buddies is now running SEArch & Rescue out of San Diego. When an old acquaintance from the military calls trapped in the wildfire with the Forest Ranger teams spread too thin to even be aware there are hikers in the area, Tanner finds himself searching for the lost hiker and her Labrador in the midst of the fire.
When Taylor and Tanner come together the flames begin in earnest. But will two loners, both recently hurt and both leery of relationships, find a future together? Or will the fire burn out in record time?
