RETIRED - This King Tut bobblehead is part of Royal Bobbles' collection of historic figures. Born over 3000 years ago in 1372 BC, King Tutankhamun was an Egyptian pharaoh of the 18th dynasty, during the period of Egyptian history known as the New Kingdom. Tutankhamun was nine years old when he became pharaoh and reigned for approximately ten years. Tutankhamun was one of the few kings worshiped as a god and honored with a cult-like following in his own lifetime. What made Tutankhamun a worldwide phenomenon was the discovery of his tomb, in the Valley of the Kings, November 1922 by British archaeologist, Howard Carter. It was and still is one of the most spectacular archaeological finds of the twentieth century and beyond. The tomb, unlike many others, had been left undisturbed for millennia and contained over 5000 precious artifacts. The discovery, along with rumors of a curse that meant death to anyone who disturbed Egyptian artifacts, especially Pharaoh's tombs, made a little-known Pharaoh become an icon of Pop culture. The period of art and design of the late 1800's into the early 1900's was called Egyptian Revival and even earned the "boy king" the nickname of "King Tut." All Royal Bobbles bobbleheads are about 8" tall and are made from the highest quality heavyweight polyresin. Each bobblehead is hand painted, making each one unique. Every Royal Bobbles product comes with its own unique serial number on the bottom of the base to indicate authenticity.
