The Lean Six Sigma Deployment Memory Jogger
What's new in this Second Edition of the LSS Deployment Memory Jogger?
Kaizen, Kaizen event and Simple Kaizen:
This second edition expands the content on the Lean Six Sigma deployment methodologies to now cover more about kaizen, types of kaizen, and how kaizen event and simple kaizen complement each other to successfully deploy Lean Six Sigma. By reading these new topics, you should be able to: - Recognize how kaizen events and simple kaizen interact on your LSS deployment - Understand the need for both kaizen events and simple kaizen for an effective LSS deployment - Identify the typical structure of an 5-day kaizen event based on the PDCA cycle.
Tools, Methodologies and Principles
Additional content about these three levels of Lean Six Sigma interact and support each other has been included in Chapter 1. By reading this new content, you should be able to: - Recognize that each level is required for a successful lean six sigma deployment - Understand how each level is built upon the previous as part of lean six sigma deployment
The next level of visual learning with The Lean Six Sigma Deployment Memory Jogger. Our Memory Jogger trademark "Why use it?" "What does it do?" and "How do you do it?" format has been driven one-step higher and furthermore it is presented in full engaging color
With the help of our author, Jaime Villafuerte, an ASQ Master Black Belt and Master Lean Expert, we have designed a concise visual learning experience.
Our simple illustrative display is key to learning Lean Six Sigma deployment at a novice level. The Lean Six Sigma Deployment Memory Jogger is aligned with the Body of Knowledge from ASQ, SME, AME and Shingo Prize Lean Certification. Utilize this pocket guide as a non-statistical reference for green belts and black belts. The niche of the handbook is its focus on steps for implementation not just a collection of valuable tools. Readers are happy to learn from concise knowledge that is straight to the point, the number one reason to refer to Memory Joggers. The idea of the LSS Deployment pocket guide came from the need to have a quick and practical reference to guide every employee on the steps and the LSS tools used within each step to deploy LSS. Two of the most common questions that we often tried to answer were "when do I apply this tool?" and "what is the next step?" so the Memory Jogger was organized around the 5 lean principles and grouping the key LSS tools at each step without being prescriptive. The idea to make the pocket guide very visual was based on the fundamental need to involve everyone, everyday, everywhere as we deploy lean six sigma.
What is it? Lean Six Sigma is a management system that includes tools, methodologies, and principles focusing on providing value to our customers by removing all waste, overburden and variation from our processes. It must be practiced EVERY DAY BY EVERYONE IN A VERY CONSISTENT MANNER – not in spurts – in a concrete way on the shop floor and in the office. Lean is a simple, powerful way of thinking and doing things that everyone can use. The principles and tools outlined in this Memory Jogger were initially used in manufacturing; however, their proven success has spread and they are now applied everywhere from coffee shops (yes, even Starbucks uses lean!) to space exploration (NASA too!). The spirit of lean is based on a conscious decision to adapt to the changes around us and to pursue higher levels of performance. We believe this visual learning guide will contribute to quickly applying lean to create value through the elimination of waste.
