Will faith and true love strong enough to overcome adversity that may cause harm to an unborn baby?
Sarah has been a widow for a few months now, caring for her young son and expecting another child at any time. She’s just traveled to her father’s home in their small Amish community, hoping to care for him and in turn have his support as she raises her children. However, her time to deliver is near, and the snowy weather isn’t allowing for much travel in their area.
Her father sets out to check on his other children and bring a midwife, hoping to help Sarah when her time to deliver comes. First, he sends someone to keep an eye on Sarah and her son Amos, their neighbor, a young bachelor named Daniel. Sarah is forced to watch as he is imprisoned in their barn when it collapses, nearly going into labor, as it is what killed her beloved husband.
His eyelids grew heavy and he rested against the hay. The lantern was close to his side and he fell asleep, lost to the cold tiresome day. Before he’d slept very long, he rolled and knocked over the lantern. He woke up, realizing what he had done, and put it back on its perch. The light dimmed, leaving him with next to no light. He looked around frantically and crawled over to the clothesline. There was a note on it, and he looked it over, trying to figure out what it said.
Daniel, I know this isn’t easy for you. Please stay alive. Do what you can.
Daniel Clark has been tasked with keeping an eye on his pregnant neighbor, a recent widow with another baby. The snow drifts have already risen to nearly six feet in places, so she must have help with maintaining firewood in their Amish home. He learns that she’s battling depression due to the loss of her husband, but his own issues with procrastination lead to bigger problems.
Daniel moved home after the death of his father, to help his mother during the stressful winter months. Because he chooses to put the most important task last, he finds himself in a fight for his life while trying to keep Sarah and her children alive. As the storm continues to worsen, the two must struggle with a coming child and the bitter frost of the winter night...one that Daniel may not survive.
Will Sarah see past her fear and sadness in order to deliver her child safely and allow love to bloom again within her heart?
Can Daniel escape his snowy prison before it’s too late—and will he finally entertain the idea of a family of his own with the beautiful widow?>
