The summer of 2010 rolls on in north Georgia, where Brett and Sherry Warren are preparing to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. Their daughter Emily has lived in Georgia for a year now, but still struggles to let go of the past. Part of Sherry's family prepares to leave Georgia, while another family moves into the picture.

At the Evan's home, Brad prepares for a company expansion, while Gloria enjoys her annual summer vacation. Sherri is preparing for college, taking karate lessons with her 'little sister,' and really looking forward to the end of the summer.
Scott Williams is in Virginia for his first season of pro ball, and longs for the summer to end so he can return to Georgia.
Late in the summer, Brett gets news from his employer that creates tension between he and Sherry. The tension increases another notch as a young man shows interest in fourteen year-old Emily. Both issues combine to make August even 'hotter' than normal.
