Then, tragedy strikes, and suddenly her whole world is turned upside down. She must now care for her disabled father and learn to run the family farm. She works hard day and night, putting the needs of her family above her own. Just when things are finally starting to settle down again, a letter arrives in the mail with some shocking news.
Her father had taken out a large loan that no one had known about and it is about to come due. Della Peterson decides she must find a way to pay off the loan and save the family farm. So she heads to Providence to pay a visit to the Hemisphere Funds Co.

Until one day, when a beautiful, young Amish girl walks into his office. Their first meeting does not go very well and they have words, which he regrets.
Now Rick has decided that no matter what he has to do, he will win the heart of Della Peterson. He follows her home to Foster, Where he does what he can to find out more about her. Meanwhile, Della hurt at her father for keeping the loan concealed and angry at Rick for not being willing to help her right away, must find a way to get the money to pay off the loan and try to figure out these feelings that she has for this man that has inserted himself into her life.
